As a boarding school graduate myself, and someone who worked at a boarding school for a while, I was drawn to this article:
A Big Storm Challenge for Boarding Schools
New England schools are used to dealing with large amounts of snow, but running on generators for days is a serious problem when you have hundreds of students. Some schools have buildings with electric heat, which is why we do emergency planning on a regular basis. If these week-long outages keep occurring every time there’s a blizzard some schools may have to either sink the money into a gas or oil heat system, or plan to bunk entire dorms in the gym for a week.
